How access and privacy workYou enable the access
You start Bridge and choose the connection. Review the permissions before enabling access.
Changed files get checked
Checked edits stop when the file has changed since it was read. You can inspect the result.
Your AI receives the context
Requested file contents and command results go to your AI provider. Local does not mean nothing leaves your Mac.
You can disconnect it
Revoke the hosted connection from your Mac or remove the local app connection. No licence key is needed.
What am I actually installing?
A small local tool connection, not another chatbot. Your AI app provides the conversation; Bridge lets it read files, make checked edits and run commands on your Mac. It has no separate chat interface.
Does it work with ChatGPT in my browser?
Yes, through the hosted technical preview if your ChatGPT account has Developer Mode access. Follow the setup guide to pair your Mac. The directory listing was submitted to OpenAI on 22 September 2026 and is under review, not approved or published. See the dated release status.
Can I use it for my business?
Yes. The local agent is MIT-licensed, including commercial use. No separate commercial licence, payment or activation key is required. Keep the copyright and licence notice when distributing the software.
Can Bridge change or delete my files?
Yes. Bridge runs with your OS account’s access and is not a sandbox. Commands can change or delete data and access the network. Use only systems you are authorized to operate, review important actions and keep backups. Read the access model.
What happens when my Mac is asleep?
The Mac must be awake and the agent running to handle new requests. Bridge does not provide an always-on cloud computer. Command sessions survive individual calls, not an agent restart.
What if it isn’t right for me?
Disconnect Bridge and remove the downloaded files when you no longer need them. No purchase or cancellation payment is required. See how to disconnect and remove it.
